Morning Keynote: Certain Uncertainty
The world is changing more rapidly than ever before and organisations of every size are struggling to remain relevant in the eyes of their customers. The simple fact that the average lifespan of a company has decreased by more than 50 years in the last century demonstrates that not all organisations are prepared for this new reality. It is only high-performing, adaptable and agile organisations that will leverage, lead and thrive in this ambiguous and unpredictable market. We call this business agility.

The problem with a statement like that is that there is no common definition of what business agility means. And that’s actually a good thing. In a dynamic and changing market trying to lock it down will defeat the very advantage it brings. Instead, I want you to start thinking of business agility as the common thread. An adaptable and sustainable narrative that binds & guides, rather than directs, us into the uncertain future.

Visualize your workflow, improve value delivery
Do you like pizza? Are you interested in Kanban? Do you want to focus more on delivering value quickly and effectively If so, there's no excuse for skipping this game!

In the Kanban Pizza Game, you will experience firsthand the benefits of a Kanban System, by simulating the frantic pace of ordering pizza. The Kanban Pizza Game demonstrates the path from an existing process to a Kanban System and starts right where you are unlike other Kanban games that usually focus only on the flow of an existing Kanban System.

You will learn to use the five basic practices of Kanban which are, visualize the workflow, limit Work-In-Progress, manage flow, make process policies explicit & minimize waste, and keep up with customer demand and at the end understand how Kanban and its evolutionary approach to change can be applied to software development. The game is fun, the activity level stays high and it offers a complex simulation that includes changes in flow, while the difficulty progresses.

Whether you are a novice seeking to learn Kanban in a memorable way or a seasoned practitioner looking for a great simulation to teach Kanban to others, this is the session for you.

A Fascinating Look into Self-Selecting Teams
What is the next step towards complete autonomy once teams are “self-managed”? In the journey towards agility, I believe that having team members select their own teams is this next step. Think it's not possible? Come learn more about how this fascinating technique was facilitated, and what lessons were learned.
After this session, attendees will be able to: - sufficiently describe and apply an iterative process to create self-selected teams (even across countries and timezones). - classify the different stages of team autonomy and self-management which underpins agile team practices. - experiment with self-selection in their teams to give it a try.

Product Decision making through Constellations
Ever wondered how to bring some life into decision making on product direction and feature choices to customers/consumers if you don’t have access to the customers to ask them? How often has Product Owners or organisations to that matter, delivered what they deem as value to customers and it’s not turned out to be what the customers want. Sad to say but some 'acclaimed' Agile teams/organisations continue to face this because;
a. They choose not to engage their customers early enough
b. Release cadence is too long thereby increasing the feedback loop.
c. Feedback loop not in place to encourage customers to feedback through the Product Owner or other open channels.
d. Product Owner is inexperienced and don’t have the know-how or embody the values and principle of agility by engaging the customer or satisfying what the customer wants rather than what they want to release.

By the end of this workshop you will have learnt: • Why constellate the direction of your product? • What constellations is and how to use it • How to set-up for a constellation • How to use constellation to get a sense of what to build first - priorities

The convergence of several technology trends is accelerating progress. The volume of data continues to double every three years as information pours in from digital platforms, wireless sensors, virtual-reality applications, and billions of mobile phones. Data scientists now have unprecedented computing power at their disposal, and they are devising algorithms that are ever more sophisticated. Business are now developing data driven decision. This session will take you through the steps. The first challenge is incorporating data and analytics into a core strategic vision. The next step is developing the right business processes and building capabilities, including both data infrastructure and talent. "Understanding Fake Agile
With the growing recognition that “Agile is eating the world,” surveys by Deloitte and McKinsey show that more than 90% of senior executives give high priority to becoming agile, while less than 10% see their firm as currently highly agile. The gap between aspiration and reality has led to a vast number of managers, consultants, and coaches claiming to be agile and offering to help firms become agile. Quite a few firms also have CEOs who are asking, “Why aren’t we agile?”

Join me as I explain what "fake agile", how to identify it and how to deal with it?

Agile Beyond Software Teams
Its been over 30 years since the software industry caught the Agile bug. While there is still room for improvement, Agile has proven to be very successful in helping software organizations deliver products faster, reduce complexity, lower cost and deliver higher quality to its customers. As technology, market, and environmental complexities and their interactions have rapidly increased, it has become imperative to adopt an agile mindset if organizations desire to increase their market share and stay relevant. Agile has proven to be successful in many industries beyond Software, however, many non-tech teams still struggle with applying the agile way of working due to limited case studies and success stories on implementation.

In this workshop, participants will not only gain new knowledge by learning how non software teams ranging from business operations, HR, Marketing, Recruiting Call centers just to name a few have successfully transformed their work processes from waterfall to agile but they will also get hands on experience on how to kick start an agile team in their workplace and gain the tools needed for continuous success.

The Heart of Agility
Why is it that some teams soar, and some wallow and slog towards uncertain results? It often comes down to how well the people on the team work together. Collaboration is at the heart of teamwork. But what does that really mean? How is collaboration different from cooperation? Why do we need both? What does stellar teamwork look like?

In this session, we’ll explore these questions. I’ll share how both managers and team members can influence the conditions for collaboration and cooperation. The Product Owner and Scrum Master Brain Transplant! Mwuhahahaha!!!
Imagine you are a Mad Agile Scientist and have a diabolical experiment to conduct - what would happen if you exchanged the brains of a Product Owner and Scrum Master? Mwuhahahaha!!! How would the body of a Product Owner with the brain of a Scrum Master act? And vice versa?

Perhaps the Scrum Master would now treat the team like a backlog? This Scrum Master would be focused on value and maintaining a coaching backlog of team and person improvements. This Scrum Master is refining the team, crafting a group that delivers value.

And perhaps the Product Owner might treat the backlog like a team? Rather than backlog refining, they coach the backlog. They would be focused on nurturing, protecting, and empowering the backlog. The backlog might transform from an irritation into a labor of love. Although this experiment sounds terrible, this change of perspective might be what you need to reanimate your dead team or backlog.

Join the fun and come learn what horrifying results await!
